The Route Looked Different

Abu Dhabi: The route looked quite different this year, but we ran the virtual Capitol Hill Classic 10K and Fun Run today, as did many in our neighborhood back home. Somewhere along the way, in my slow and steady groove, I realized I knew where to find the shade, and anticipated that fragrant burst of honeysuckle up ahead, and knew where the old guys doused themselves in water faucets, and recognized several of the early evening regulars. And in those moments I felt a familiarity, reminding me, just for a second, of running on East Capitol.
